Early orthodontic treatment

There is an opinion that the orthodontic treatment can be started only after the eruption of permanent teeth. In general, it’s true. But in some cases it is not right to wait and do nothing until the permanent teething. Immediate orthodontic intervention is required right in the beginning of the second dentition period (i.e. during active grows of the dentoalveolar system) or as soon as the problem is found out (to speed up the treatment and avoid any complication of a clinical situation).

Usually, the early orthodontic treatment is provided with the help of removable appliances. These can be tailor-made appliances either preorthodontic trainers or the MyoBraces.Any fixed appliances and braces may also be used, брекеты on the fourth front teeth((appliances 2×4)).The way of treatment is defined by the doctor in every case individually.

What are the cases requiring early orthodontic treatment?

Bad habit of thumb sucking or tongue, incorrect type of swallowing, when the tongue slips in among the teeth, all these lead to
open bite formation.
In this case the orthodontic appliances, are prescribed to prevent thumb sucking. There has to be selected a set of myogymnastics to regulate the swallowing and the visits to speech therapist are recommended.

The teeth are in the incorrect overlap and block each other.
It leads to their functional overloading and abnormal growth of the jaw.

Dental retention (delay of tooth growth). There isn’t much place for tooth eruption and it is blocked with nearby tooth. The place for tooth was created and it erupted in the dentition.

Crowding of teeth. Difficulty of the oral hygiene, leading to development of paradontium tissues disease (gingivitis, periodontitis).

The problem of the upper or lower jaws growth.
In the childhood, when the kid actively grows, the growth of the jaws can be stimulated or restrained and the type of jaw growth can be corrected, improving the kid’s face look of and creating the conditions for optimal function and aesthetics of the face and teeth. Cross bite.
Leads to dysplasia of the jaw, face asymmetry and possible problems with the TMJ.

Nasal breathlessness.
When the mouth is constantly open and the kid has mouth breathing, then the maxillofacial area muscles appear imbalanced. It leads to disturbed occlusion. In this case the orthodontic treatment has to be carried out in collaboration with the otolaryngologist. At the same time, a doctor prescribes the myogymnastics to strengthen the mouth muscles..
